Starting Kindergarten Preparing for School Program Starting school is an important step in a young child's life. St Ives Park Primary School provides a broad and inclusive program that ensures our new students and their families feel welcomed and are well catered for. To assist this process we provide a number of opportunities for parents and their children to visit our school. Kindy Open Morning Teddy Bears Picnic A special first visit to "Big School" for pre-schoolers. A fun day where Mum and/or Dad, pre-schoolers and their teddy are invited to spend the morning with our Kindergarten class. Everyone is welcome, whether or not you intend enrolling at St Ives Park for the following year. RSVP: Tel: 9144 4085 Orientation Parent Orientation Evening - Thu 26 Oct, 7.30pm Parent and Student Orientation Morning - Tues 31st Oct, 9.30am Enrolling and families considering St Ives Park are invited to attend our Orientation sessions for a detailed overview of life at St Ives Park Primary School. Taste of Kindy - Thu 2, Tue 7, Thu 9 Nov Parents and new students are invited to visit our school for several "Taste of Kindy" days. These days are very important as they introduce the children to their new school. They provide them with a taste of school routines and allow them to view the facilities so that when they start school they feel more comfortable. Buddy System All Kindergarten children are welcomed by their Year 5/6 buddy on the first day of school. Their buddy accompanies them on their first morning in Kindergarten. This begins a very special form of personal attention that continues throughout the year and ensures that your child feels welcome and comfortable in their new school environment. It's a special role that the older children take great pride in. Special friendships that last for years often result from these mentoring relationships. In addition to the Buddy System, St Ives Park runs a Primary Pals leadership and mentoring program that involves all grades.
