Across Stage Ability Groups

St Ives Park Primary School provides across stage ability groups in the areas of Literacy and Numeracy.

This is a unique program that recognises that children learn in ability stages rather than grade or age based groups. During the two hour Literacy and Numeracy block:

• the children work at their appropriate stage level

• extra teaching support is available to provide a better child/teacher ratio

• there is greater flexibility for extending students

• there is provision for intensive instruction for children with individual support needs

Across stage ability groups are reviewed regularly in order to best meet the changing needs of the student population.
